The doctoral degree has undergone somehwat of a transformation in the past two decades. Recent advancements in communications technology and a generally positive attitude toward providing greter flexibility to research students has given rise to a multitude of ways in which a doctoral degree may be completed. We have summarized here some of the pros and cons of the various delivery modes available for doctoral programmes.
